Review of Legion Movie Trailer 2010

There are two different trailers for Legion one relatively short and the longer one, and both will scare the hell out of you! This is because even if you intend to watch Legion online, in the warmth and protection of your own home, the thought that this could well happen to humanity due to wars and such is a tremendous possibility, and even though this is a supernatural thriller, the thoughts that are forced into your mind by the trailers will haunt you for a long time.

Not since the 80’s has the phrase “They’re here” meant anything in a movie, as it will mean in this one. This one phrase alone, heard in the trailer, is an example of the tense feeling that will be engendered in the film itself.

I was also impressed by the editing of the long trailer itself, the words spoken by the waitress in the diner, played by Adrianne Palicki as she explains exactly what will happen in the film, of the prophecy when God changes, and loses his faith in man. The speech from the Archangel Michael describing that this is an “extermination” of the humans sent chills up my spine, but the best part of the trailer was the special effects, of course. Seeing the claws growing from human hands out of that ones coat frightened me, as did the sight of the old lady attacking a human, then climbing the walls as if she were suddenly a spider is such a wonderful effect, that I cannot wait to see what other special effects Legion online will bring!

“The last time God lost faith in man, he sent a flood, this time he sent angels,” as spoken by the Archangel, explains the premise so well, and again this is the hallmark of good editing. You know by this chilling statement exactly what is going to happen in this film, and you know to expect great things from it too! With the “darkness” that befalls man, when the earth will be covered in darkness in this apocalypse, it does not surprise me that much of the film takes place in the darkness. The effect of the Archangel Michael fighting with his wings outstretched led me to want to see more and more of him, it was that engrossing.

The trailer can even make you smile and probably laugh too, when one hears the line “Don’t look like any policeman I ever saw…not even one from L.A.!” Gotta confess that amongst all this frightening stuff, having a lapse in the seriousness is always important, and again I point to awesome editing, as this also led me to believe that there will be some comic relief in the film. I also liked the special effect of the car driving through a metropolis, with all the lights going off as the auto passes, along with the music that matched the lights going out, and darkness descending down on the city! The more I looked at the trailer, the more I wanted to watch Legion, which means that the trailer did its work admirably.
